Day 3: Dakar – Palmarin (Saloum)
After breakfast, departure for the Saloum region, passing through the Baobab Forest and the traditional market of Mbour. Visit Joal, the birthplace of Léopold Sédar Senghor, Senegal’s first president, followed by a stop at Fadiouth, the Shell Island, known for its stilt granaries and shell-covered streets. A boat excursion through the lagoon offers a unique perspective of the local environment. After lunch, visit traditional Bambara villages before arriving in Palmarin for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Palmarin – Toubacouta (Saloum Delta)
After breakfast, departure for Toubacouta, traveling through Kaolack, a town famous for its colorful markets filled with medicinal herbs, textiles, and handicrafts. Lunch in Kaolack before continuing towards Toubacouta, located in the Saloum Delta, a UNESCO biosphere reserve. In the afternoon, embark on a motorboat tour through the delta’s mangrove forests, oyster banks, and bird sanctuaries. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Toubacouta – Ziguinchor
After breakfast, departure for Casamance, crossing the Gambia River and stopping in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia. Short city tour and visit to its main attractions before continuing towards Ziguinchor, passing through the Mandingo region, known for its animist traditions and sacred rituals. Arrival in Ziguinchor, the capital of Casamance, for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Ziguinchor – Cap Skirring – Ziguinchor
After breakfast, journey through Basse Casamance, stopping in animist villages to witness ancestral ceremonies and spiritual rituals. Visit the impluvium houses of the Diola ethnic group and explore the Diola Museum, offering insight into local customs and traditions. After lunch, enjoy a relaxing afternoon at Cap Skirring, famous for its pristine beaches and coastal beauty. Return to Ziguinchor for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Ziguinchor – Kafountine – Banjul
After breakfast, departure towards Kafountine and Banjul, traveling through the scenic landscapes of Baila, Diouloulou, and Badiana. Stop in Banjul to explore its lively markets and colonial-era landmarks. After lunch, continue the journey towards Saly, one of Senegal’s premier beach resorts. Enjoy free time upon arrival. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Saly – Dakar
After breakfast, explore the semi-arid landscapes of Tann and visit traditional Peulh villages before returning to Saly for a relaxing beach day. In the afternoon, transfer to Dakar airport for departure.
